In an interview with Radio Free Europe, VMRO-DPMNE Vice-President Aleksandar Nikoloski says that politically, it would be better for his party for the elections not to be held simultaneously. However, in his view, it’s illogical to spend twice the amount of funds.
Regarding the constitutional changes, he reiterates the stand of his party that the process will not be carried out. Nikoloski adds there will not be a ruling coalition between his party and DUI. SDSM, however, once again says the presidential elections will be held first, which will be followed by the parliamentary ones.
However, as Spokesperson Darko Kaevski explains, there is readiness for dialogue regarding an election date. SDSM denies Mickoski’s comments that there are negotiations in Parliament on technical changes to the Electoral Code.
The ethnic Albanian bloc, too, is divided, that is, the joint opposition believes the elections should be held simultaneously, whereas DUI is against that.
