Pendarovski and Davkova Officially Confirmed as Presidential Candidates

At the session of SDSM’s Congress on Sunday, Stevo Pendarovski was confirmed as the ruling party’s candidate for a second presidential term. 706 delegates voted in favour.

SDSM leader Dimitar Kovacevski said Pendarovski had a clear vision about the country’s prosperity and its EU future. Pendarovski said the country needed a President with a clear European vision. He described VMRO-DPMNE’s polls as fake and the opportunities being offered by the party as unsustainable.

The previous day, 444 of the 448 delegates part of VMRO-DPMNE’s Convention supported MP Gordana Siljanovska Davkova to be the party’s presidential candidate. Expressing gratitude for the huge support, she stated that the country’s road was known and other paths were not being sought.

“However, one doesn’t become a European only by talking about the EU. It is done by practicing democracy, putting the rule of law first, focusing on human rights,” she stated.

On Friday, the candidates endorsed by GROM and Levica, Stevco Jakimovski and Biljana Vankovska, respectively each get the 10,000 signatures, which means they, too, are now officially part of the presidential race.
