In an interview with Sitel, PM Hristijan Mickoski says regarding the EU path that an increasing number of diplomats in Europe and the world are looking favourably at the country’s arguments, position, and proposed potential solution.
“It’s a matter of what will there is in terms of us finding a solution or not. Why not respect the Good-Neighbourliness Treaty? Not the protocol, not the proposal, but rather the Treaty. The Treaty with Bulgaria doesn’t require constitutional changes. Well, let’s respect it then. We are asking for that, let’s respect the Treaty. Is it a Treaty or not? Let’s respect it,” he points out.
Mickoski again says he is optimistic when it comes to the process being unblocked. All arguments, according to him, are on Skopje’s side. The PM stresses that what also matters a lot is the message being sent from Sofia.
“Is the problem multilateral or bilateral? What’s the message? We’re hearing confusing tones and statements from Sofia. I hope that once there is consolidation of that society after the elections, we will get a clearer picture and be getting final messages. We’re saying, ‘Let the constitutional changes enter into force once Bulgaria’s Parliament ratifies this country’s accession agreement.’”
