In an interview with Telma, PM Mickoski says regarding the Judicial Council and Council of Public Prosecutors politics shouldn’t interfere.
“We say that they themselves should elect the Councils’ members. Prosecutors and judges themselves. That’s the reform. An autonomous budget, them electing themselves. However, we must oversee spending of taxpayer money. We would like to do that through a committee in Parliament that would include members from both the opposition and the government,” the PM stresses.
The judiciary was one of the topics discussed at Mickoski’s meeting with the EU Ambassadors on Monday.
In that regard, the PM explains that the government’s proposal was presented, adding, “On the other side, there were individuals who were saying they didn’t agree. The key ambassadors, I would say, were softer in that expression.”
