PM Hristijan Mickoski doesn’t think early parliamentary elections should be held together with the 2025 local polls.
“Instead of holding elections, let’s roll up our sleeves and work in the interest of citizens,” he pointed out on Wednesday.
According to Mickoski, though his party would be ready for elections, which would see SDSM defeated even more than on 8 May, as early as tomorrow, that would mean new costs and halting reforms. Tetovo Mayor and VLEN co-leader Bilall Kasami, too, considers that early elections shouldn’t be held.
“We see that more as a shriek from the opposition, which is trying to survive these hard times for them. This government has a consolidated majority and works seriously to implement the pre-election programme,” he said on Wednesday.
Regarding the 2025 local elections, the Tetovo Mayor stressed that VLEN was working intensively to coordinate activities for joint participation in the process. SDSM’s Sanja Lukarevska, on the other hand, stated that the internal processes within the party would not impact the party’s preparations for early elections, for which the party was ready.
