PM Mickoski Gives Interview for Atlantic Council TV

PM Hristijan Mickoski gave an interview for the Tv channel of the Atlantic Council, and American think-tank organisation focusing on international affairs. In the interview, Mickoski commented on several topics within the framework of international relations in the Western Balkans, NATO and the EU.

Speaking about the process for implementation of constitutional changes, PM Mickoski said that the EU is not applying same criteria in relation to human rights, emphasising that rights of Macedonians in Bulgaria are still not respected, even after 14 verdicts of the European Court for Human Rights in their favor.

He then went on to comment on the situation in Ukraine, underlining that North Macedonia is among the top 5 countries that donated the most weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian defense forces, and he also condemned the Russian military aggression over Ukraine.

“With the military aggression over Ukraine, Russia attempts to negate the existence of the Ukrainian identity and language, and that is really terrible and scary. However, the EU remains silent when one of their members is negating the existence of the Macedonian language, which was codified in 1977 and is recognised by the United Nations. There must be same approach in both cases”, Mickoski said, adding that despite all this, North Macedonia remains dedicated to the integration in the EU, but also to the protection of its national interests and identity.
