In an interview with the 360 Stepeni (360 Degrees) show on MTV1, PM Hristijan Mickoski said the nature of the meetings during his visit to the US had been “at the highest level so far”.
He stated that he was especially honoured to have followed the inauguration process together with the Republican Party’s Michael Whatley. At the meetings in the US, the PM pointed out, there were discussions on deepening the bilateral cooperation between Skopje and Washington, investments in his country, and the EU membership ambition.
Asked whether he expected the team around new US President Donald Trump to provide support on Skopje’s EU path, he said he absolutely expected that, adding that all those meetings had been in that direction. Also regarding the EU path and when it comes to Bulgaria, Mickoski said he would absolutely initiate a meeting.
“We have our own strategy. There’s one essence, which is whether we, after two decades, will be allowed to start the negotiations process and whether it will be valued according to achievements, not on the basis of bilateral disputes”, he stressed.
Regarding Agency for National Security Director Bojan Hristovski, Mickoski stated that the clearance he had was in line with strict NATO rules and monitoring.
According to him, that renders meaningless all accusations that he doesn’t meet conditions for security clearance. The PM also praised Hristovski’s results over the actions against three very serious terrorist cells in the country.
As far as to the Oncology Clinic issue is concerned, he said it would be resolved during the week.
