PM Mickoski Responds to SDSM Leader Filipce’s Criminal Code Comments

On Thursday, PM Hristijan Mickoski responded to SDSM leader Venko Filipce’s stand that a new version of the Criminal Code should be adopted.

As he stressed, a new Code will be adopted, but it will be in line with EU standards, not on the basis of “somebody’s needs”.

Regarding last year’s changes to the Code, he asked Filipce what would be done over the cases over which the statute of limitations had expired and taxpayer money being spent.

“They’re saying they’ve prepared a new Code. However, what will we do over those crimes over which the statute of limitations has expired and for which citizens are paying compensation. Will they return part of the stolen money for those crimes over which the statute of limitations has expired?

Now, on the basis of the expiration, compensation is being sought and given from the Budget. It’s about millions of euros. That is your money. OK, let them take money out of their pocket and sell part of the property, and former officials from the ranks of SDSM have a lot of property, and return money to the Budget,” the PM stressed, answering a journalist’s question.
