PM Says he Talked to Turkish President over ‘Unpleasant Situation’ involving Kocani Fire Patients at Istanbul Airport

Four Kocani fire patients that had received treatment in Ankara spent the entire night at the Istanbul airport together with those accompanying them. North Macedonia’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed the case, saying there were technical problems. However, in its press-release, issued on Monday, it didn’t specify what exactly had gone on.

“We brief you that for technical reasons, they returned, instead of with the initially planned flight, for Friday evening, with the next regular flight, on Saturday morning”, the institution said.

Also on Monday, PM Hristijan Mickoski said he had personally talked to Turkiye’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, among others.

“The kids that were returning two-three days ago from Ankara had an unpleasant situation at the airport in Istanbul. I personally talked to one of the parents, to people from the closest surrounding, and to President Erdogan personally. That whole thing was settled”, he pointed out.
