Caretaker PM Talat Xhaferi confirmed on Tuesday that his party, DUI, would definitely have its own presidential candidate. However, he doesn’t believe that party leader Ali Ahmeti will be that person.
SDSM leader Dimitar Kovacevski stated that there was nothing contested with DUI’s decision to have its own presidential candidate.
“That’s a legitimate right of every party,” he noted.
The collection of signatures for presidential candidates will last from 23 February to 8 March. Maksim Dimitrevski’s party, ZNAM, will reveal the name of its candidate on Thursday.
Regarding the Electoral Code, Kovacevski said his party was ready to vote in favour of the changes immediately.
