President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova explained on Tuesday the reason why the wreath she laid in Rome read only “President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova”, without including the country’s name.
“You know those ribbons are not very big. We talked within the Cabinet. There were different opinions between us ourselves too. For example, I believed it could be ‘RN Macedonia’, but, in some way, at the end, we said that this could be some solution because I headed the state-church delegation.
I know there can be remarks. I understand many of them. Many of them are logical because it’s true we represent Macedonia there. However, likely, at a time when, as you now, after I had avoided using the official name of the country from the rostrum, that is, after having decided on ‘Macedonia’ on the basis of the right to, as I said several days ago, self-determination and self-identification or the freedom of expression of thought, we decided on this solution,” she noted.
