President Organises Traditional Annual Reception for Representatives of Diplomatic Corps

At the traditional annual reception for representatives of the diplomatic corps, held on Friday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said exactly diplomats personified knowledge and power of traditional diplomacy as a mechanism of civilisation that had persisted for centuries and managed to unite, build alliances and friendships, and coin peace.

She added that she personally saw diplomacy as an art of the possible and even the impossible, not as “take it or leave it”. The President also stressed she preferred that battles saw the use of arguments, not arms.

“I personally believe in the idea of European unification as a philosophy of peace”, Siljanovska Davkova underlined.

Slovak Ambassador Henrik Markus praised the President’s efforts to support initiatives to help oncology patients and other vulnerable groups. Regarding North Macedonia, he said it didn’t need an investment because branding imposed itself since the country could be proudly known as the “friendliest country in the world”, radiating hospitality, great wines, and cordial people.

In that regard, the diplomat said his desire was for North Macedonia to convey that in all spheres of action with its international partners, friends, allies, especially with regards to the development of economic and commercial relations with them.
