On Tuesday, President Stevo Pendarovski signed the decree for promulgation of the Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services.
“The Law clearly defines what a state campaign of public interest, at a state or local level, represents. At the same time, the changes to the Law limit the budget, that is, the amount of funds from the state Budget that can be used for campaigns at a state or local level. The Law provides for a procedure in which a commission comprising representatives of both ruling and opposition parties, on a parity basis, plays a central part. Also, the Law specifies criteria according to which broadcasters can apply, while the procedure to choose broadcasters on which campaigns at a state or local level will be broadcast is clearly defined as well,” the Cabinet said, inter alia.
