On Monday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with French Ambassador Cyrille Baumgartner.
“At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, characterised by traditional friendship, open and constructive dialogue, and continued advancement of cooperation in numerous spheres of common interest.
At the meeting, there was a discussion on the Macedonian ambitions regarding EU membership, as a strategic priority of the country. In that context, President Siljanovska Davkova stressed that to us, support from our friends and partners in the EU, including France, too, was highly appreciated and significant,” the President’s Cabinet said.
Siljanovska Davkova, it was pointed out in the press-release, expects also the EU process to proceed by restoring faith in the merit-based process of integration, with the focus being on meeting the Copenhagen criteria.
The President, it was added, hopes that historical issues will not take precedence over reforms, which are a main national priority.
