President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Friday with Radmila Sekerinska and congratulated her election to the post of NATO Deputy Secretary General.
Siljanovska Davkova and Sekerinska agreed that the important post is not only a personal but also a national recognition, a proof that unity and consensus among highest office holders is the key to success and the country’s promotion, the President’s Office said in a press release.
The President voiced assurance that the incoming Deputy Secretary General would significantly contribute to the realisation of the Alliance’s key objectives of enhancing collective security, strengthening solidarity among allies and countering contemporary threats, whereas Sekerinska’s election clearly shows the importance the Alliance attaches to the region.
NATO Sec Gen Mark Rutte revealed last week his decision to appoint Sekerinska as his Deputy, and she is expected to assume the position by the end of 2024.
