On Thursday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with a delegation of the MAKEDON Union of Associations of Macedonians and Child Refugees from the Aegean Part, led by its head, Aleksandar Janevski.
As it was said in the press-release, the meeting was held on the eve of the traditional marking of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Greek Civil War and 76th anniversary of the forcible banishment of Macedonians from the Aegean Part of Macedonia.
The MAKEDON delegation briefed the President on the preparations for the event, as well as on the plans for the annual Assembly.
The President expressed support for MAKEDON’s work and activities. As she added, the fate and tragedy of over 30,000 child refugees and their painful journey must never be hidden and trivialised.
According to her, respecting the past and knowing what happened creates big room for a friendly future “towards which we aspire for the good of everyone in the Balkans and Europe”, the President’s Cabinet added in the press-release.
