Prosecutor’s Office Appeals Verdict in Laskarci Crash Trial

The Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed the verdict in the trial over the Laskarci crash, which happened on 13 February 2019 and in which 16 passengers were killed and more than 30 were severely injured.

According to the Office, Durmo Tours owner Durmish Beluli, Remzi Miftari, head of the company’s fleet, as well as Igor Gjorgjievski and Goran Dukovski, employed at the company’s technical centre, should get longer prison sentences, as well as longer profession, activity or duty bans.

In January, Beluli and Miftari were sentenced to four six years in prison, respectively, while Gjorgievski and Dukovski each got five.

The institution believes that when it comes to Beluli, Miftari, Gjorgjievski, and Dukovski, the Criminal Court made a wrong assessment of the mitigating and aggravating circumstances, as well as of individual liability.
