On Thursday, at the Constitutional Court, a public debate was held over Levica leader and MP Dimitar Apasiev’s request in which he claims that he was discriminated in 2022 by then-Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi.
As Apasiev explained, then, he was politically discriminated by Xhaferi in the capacity of first-signed citizen, that is, authorised proponent of a mandatory additional referendum on the French proposal.
According to the Levica leader, despite the Speaker’s obligations being clear according to the Rules of Procedure, Xhaferi refused to forward the initiative to relevant working bodies of Parliament and illegally usurped the competence of Parliament’s plenum, declaring, arbitrarily and maliciously, the initiative unorderly, which he didn’t have the right to do. On the other hand, Xhaferi said his actions had been in line with the Rules of Procedure, stressing that Apasiev had been late in terms of correcting the request.
