Radev Hopes North Macedonia will Speed up 2017 Treaty Implementation

According to official information from Sofia, that is, from Rumen Radev’s Cabinet, at the meeting with PM Hristijan Mickoski in London, in the frames of the European Political Community meeting, on Thursday, the Bulgarian President said he hoped North Macedonia would speed up implementation of the 2017 Good-Neighbourliness Treaty, which would unlock North Macedonia’s EU perspective.

On the other hand, on Saturday, Mickoski said the conversation with Radev had come down to several sentences that a sustainable solution should be found. The same day, SDSM levelled criticism at the PM.

“What Mickoski said doesn’t correspond with what Radev had told media about expecting accelerated implementation of deals. So, it’s unclear whether it’s about the same meeting or the PM is confused. The similar thing happened after Mickoski’s meeting with Dimitar Glavchev.

The Bulgarian caretaker PM told media he’d told Mickoski the obligations remained, whereas Mickoski said on social media the meeting had been held in a friendly atmosphere” the opposition party stated.
