Asked to comment on the expiration of the statute of limitations concerning wire-tapping in the Target-Fortress case, the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, said on Wednesday he couldn’t comment.
However, he added that the European Commission’s stand regarding the Criminal Code changes was unchanged. As Geer reiterated, previously, the Commission expressed deep concern over the implications the impunity principle has due to the changes, as well as in relation to the use of the so-called EU flag during their adoption.
According to PM Kovacevski, the changes aim at alignment with EU legislation and are not related to certain cases in North Macedonia that have lasted up to 10 years.
As he said, answers about the issue of expiration of statute of limitations should be given by those running the case.
