Reactions to Criminal Code Changes Continue

The European Union is concerned over the changes to the Criminal Code. It told Kanal 5 TV on Wednesday it would continue to follow the rule of law in North Macedonia carefully, including also in the context of the EU accession talks.

The same day, European Commission Spokesperson Ana Pisonero Hernandez expressed regret over “the lack of all-encompassing consultations with domestic stakeholders and with the Commission” before the adoption, as well as over the use of the EU flag.

As she added, the EU flag procedure needs to be consistent and clearly related to laws primarily aiming at alignment of national legislation with the EU acquis. In Skopje, VMRO-DPMNE reiterated his position. With Dimitar Kovacevski in power, he said there was a rule of crime in the country, the party assessed.
