Reactions to Government’s Appointment of Institution Heads

SDSM has criticised the appointment of ZNAM’s Emil Janeski as acting head of the Prilep prison.

Janeski is a former member of SDSM, who, as the head of the Water Supply and Sewerage PE in the city, appointed by the local authorities led by SDSM, was two years ago charged with unscrupulous operation in the service and causing damage to the PE’s budget to the tune of 2.3 million denars.

Now, commenting on SDSM’s accusations over his appointment as head of the prison, the Government said a bill of indictment had never been initiated over unscrupulous operation, adding that court proceedings had never been launched either.

The Prosecutor’s Office rejected the charge because there were no grounds for action. The Government has also denied Ibraim Elezi, who was given a four-year prison sentence in a narcotics case, had been appointed head of the semi-open ward of the Veles prison.

Though the name of Elezi was included in the press-release after the end of the Government’ session, it was withdrawn following public reactions.
