Reactions to Office Incompatibility Issue Continue

Caretaker PM Talat Xhaferi, caretaker Health Minister Ilir Demiri, and the other hitherto ministers and directors will receive the salary from the old jobs even though they’ve been MPs with verified mandates since 28 May.

Parliament sources have explained that all elected and named officials have a 30-day deadline for formal deregistration from the previous job position and registration for the new one.

On the other hand, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) has said that if they didn’t renounce the other positions by midnight between Tuesday (4 June) and Wednesday (5 June), they would face misdemeanour action.

Also on Tuesday, Levica filed an official request to Parliament for Xhaferi’s MP mandate to be discontinued. Several hours later, Parliament said that the PM and certain Government members, in order for continuity to be provided in the work of the Government, would only perform the most necessary activities until a new cabinet was elected.
