In an interview with Telma on Friday, ex-Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said he didn’t feel responsible for the chaos with the personal documents, primarily passports. As he explained, there was action in line with the positive legal regulations.
“Absolutely, one cannot make anybody obtain documents in 2021, 2022 or 2023,” Spasovski stated.
The ex-Interior Minister believes all pre-conditions for citizens to replace documents were on time had been created. However, he declined to apologise to anybody of the approximately 640,000 people that have been without a valid passport since Monday.
The same day, regarding the reactions by citizens that they are still paying for driving licences and vehicle registration certificates, despite the Government’s decision according to which they are free of charge, the Ministry said citizens were paying for the administrative fees for the documents, not for the forms.
