Report on Work in 2024: 18 of 34 Courts Assessed as Efficient by Council

At a session of the Judicial Council on Wednesday, the report on the work of courts in 2024 was considered. 18 such institutions were assessed as efficient, whereas 16 were deemed inefficient.

Rapporteur Pavlina Crvenkovska stated that courts had started 2024 with 131,005 unsolved cases, which had been followed by another 569,858 admitted throughout the year.

“So, they had a total of 700,379 cases to work on. They managed to solve 566,010 and failed to solve 134,729”, she noted, adding that the previous year, courts had failed to tackle the inflow of cases, which had resulted in an increase of the number of case backlogs to 3,724.

Fellow Council member Vesna Dameva stated that the number of cases at courts last year begged the question as to whether citizens didn’t have confidence in the judiciary.
