Restrictive Measures Draft-Law Withdrawn for Administrative Reasons

The Government has withdrawn from Parliament the draft-changes to the Law on Restrictive Measures aiming at integration of US and UK blacklists into North Macedonia’s legal order.

As the Government said on Thursday, the draft-changes, signed by Dimitar Kovacevski on his last day as the PM, have been withdrawn from procedure in Parliament for administrative reasons.

“Due to the election of the new Government, the draft-changes are administratively being sent for new approval at the next session of the Government and will be submitted to Parliament,” the caretaker cabinet said.

For now, it remains unclear what the consequences of the withdrawal will be, considering they aren’t supported by caretaker PM Talat Xhaferi and Justice Minister Krenar Lloga. There has also been fierce criticism from university professor Gordan Kalajdziev.
