RKM’s owner, businessperson Ratko Kapusevski (former head of the Boris Trajkovski sports centre), and Pucko Petrol owner Asmir Jahoski, have been arrested in an investigation concerning mazut for the Negotino thermal power plant.

According to unofficial information, Kapusevski was detained in his home, where police are still conducting a search, MTV1 said in an 8:45 pm report on Monday. Police sources said it was about a network of importers that had been unlawfully delivering low-quality fuel.

“The Department of Suppression of Organised Crime and Corruption with the Public Security Bureau, Interior Ministry, in coordination with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption, upon an order from a judge in the previous procedure, is conducting searches at locations in Skopje and throughout the country in relation to crimes related to suspicious procurements of derivatives, damage of big proportions to the budget of the country, and harm to people’s health”, the Ministry stated.

The Prosecutor’s Office said more details would be presented on Tuesday (11 March). The operation is targeting unlawful trade of fuel of suspicious origin that contains a high level of sulphur and heavy metals that pollute air and soil.
