Ruling Majority Reaches Consent over Law on Protection of Children Draft-Changes

The ruling majority has reached consent over the issue of draft-changes to the Law on Protection of Children. If adopted, the changes will see, in the area of children’s protection, licences in the Macedonian language issued to everyone, while those who will request one in Albanian will receive such a document as well.

The exams will be held electronically, while, if necessary, in the event of problems with the electronic system, that will be done on paper. VLEN, too, finds that acceptable.

In its amendments, Levica requests that the part of Article 9 paragraph 2 reading “language spoken by 20% of citizens” be replaced to say “one of the official languages and their scripts depending on the candidate’s mother tongue”, and that that part in Article 10 be fully removed.
