On Wednesday, VLEN MP Imrliye Saliu-Fetai was appointed Chair of Parliament’s Social Policy Committee by Speaker Afrim Gashi. However, as early as her first session, she refused to unblock the Defenders Draft-Law.
In response to SDSM MP Jovanka Trencevska’s request, she stated that all deadlines had passed and that she didn’t intend to put the matter on the agenda until rights for ex-NLA fighters were introduced. Even though there were other MPs that requested to address the session, Saliu-Fetai allowed no further discussions.
“I was appointed Chair by Speaker Gashi only to resume the procedure concerning the Pension and Disability Insurance Draft-Law, which has waited for a long time to be on the agenda”, she noted, adding she expected after that the previous chair, Ilire Dauti, to resume to head the body after that.
