SCPC Taking Action over Cultural Centre, Ambulances, and Leasing of Vehicles

The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) has opened, upon its own initiative, a case concerning the Youth Cultural Centre. Action will be taken to determine the factual situation, it told Telma on Tuesday.

The case concerns the decision by the Director of the Centre, Arben Shakiri, not to extend the employment contracts of 30 persons working on the basis of a temporary service contract due to obligations related to the pre-election period.

The employees have criticised Shakiri for his comments that he will once again hire, after the elections, only those of the 30 persons that are essential.

The SCPC will also check the Health Ministry’s procurement of 22 ambulances and the leasing of luxury vehicles for the Government’s needs. The ambulances cost much more than the medical vehicles with similar performances, donated by the EU in February.
