SDSM has again called for an “unselective investigation” into the Kocani fire.
At a press-conference on Tuesday, the party’s Jon Frckoski stated that considering two former heads of the State Market Inspectorate had been covered by the investigation due to alleged inaction, it was logical to ask why that hadn’t been the case when it came to the current Director of the institution, Vlatko Stojkoski, even though greater responsibility fell to him with regards to supervision of the Pulse nightclub in the period before and on the night of the fire.
“The Inspectorate has the competence to supervise the implementation of laws and a legal obligation to issue a 30-day ban on operations if legal conditions are not met. Was all of this done during the term of the current Director? Was there information about violations of laws? Or did someone deliberately take no action? These are legitimate questions the investigation will need to answer”, he noted.
In response, however, VMRO-DPMNE again said that SDSM was trying to use the tragedy for a daily-political confrontation even though actions by institutions were taking place regardless of political or ethnic affiliation.
In response, however, SDSM said it was scandalous that the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor’s Office hadn’t answered the “legitimate” questions. The party added that the fact that VMRO-DPMNE was responding was adding to the suspicions of selective justice.
