In an interview with Sitel on Wednesday, SDSM leader Dimitar Kovacevski said his party and its coalition would win more MP seats than VMRO-DPMNE in the parliamentary elections.
As he added, he will once again be North Macedonia’s PM.
“We will form the pro-EU government with which we will have joined the EU by 2030,” Kovacevski emphasised.
In the interview, the SDSM leader reiterated his party’s stand on the idea presented by both Alliance for Albanians leader Arben Taravari and DUI leader Ali Ahmeti that the President should be elected in Parliament.
“In our country, the President is elected according to a model which enables all ethnic communities, all citizens, regardless of their affiliation on any grounds, and of all political parties participating in the election process to clearly state their opinion. That is why I consider that we should take a step forward, not back, regarding democratic processes,” Kovacevski noted.
The same day, ZNAM leader and presidential candidate Maksim Dimitrevski, too, presented a negative stand on the ethnic Albanian parties’ idea.
Wednesday also saw Parliament, with 90 votes in favour, zero against, and no abstentions, elect the candidate of the ethnic Albanian opposition, Abdush Demiri, as State Election Commission (SEC) member, thus completing the election body’s composition.
