The head of the SDSM’s Central Election Commission, Viktorija Avramovska Madic, regarding the 30 June intra-party elections and election of Venko Filipce as the new party leader, said on Monday again that the vote and entire process had been peaceful and seen a peaceful and democratic atmosphere.
“We’ve already presented the preliminary results, with 95% of votes counted. Once all minutes arrive and there is insight into the election material, we will present also the final results,” she stated.
As Avramovska Madic added, there is no need for a second round because Filipce won over 50% of the votes.
“The will of SDSM members has been expressed clearly and unequivocally,” she stressed.
However, Slavjanka Petrovska, who had left the race for leader two days prior the vote, said late on Sunday night regarding the process, “We would fight a state capture [a reference to ex-PM Nikola Gruevski’s rule], we have gotten a party capture.”
