SEC Expects Change to Allow Citizens with Old Documents to Vote to Be Passed

Regarding the issue of personal documents and voting, the State Election Commission (SEC) expects Parliament to adopt a change to the Electoral Code that will include a transitional provision that will allow citizens with passports containing the previous constitutional name of the country that haven’t expired to be able to vote in the elections.

However, on Monday, caretaker Interior Minister Pance Toskovski once again said that the problem would be solved if Parliament passed VMRO-DPMNE’s changes aiming to extend the validity of passports containing the old name.

When it comes to persons turning 18, they will be able to register with the SEC so that they are included in the voter registry. Monday also saw Abdush Demiri sworn in as the seventh and final member of the State Election Commission (SEC). He said he would serve professionally and responsibly.
