The second debate on the issue of changes and amendments to the Judicial Council Law was held in Bitola on Thursday.
In the presence of judges and experts, Deputy Justice Minister Alen Dereban stated that the conclusions and recommendations would be used as a basis to further improve the text.
While discussing the peer-review mission’s proposals, he said it had been proven again that having a quality legal framework was not enough, that is, laws were required to be implemented in good faith and through compliance with rules of ethics when it came to action by all stakeholders, especially by the Judicial Council’s President, Vesna Dameva, and the body’s members.
According to Dereban, the Council is the reason for the negative reports on the judiciary from domestic and international factors. The next debates will be held in Stip and Gostivar.
