
At a regional conference on the strategic priorities of NATO, the EU, and SEE in the multipolar world order, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Shekerinska, said the Alliance had the military power, while the EU had the regulatory and financial power that was needed precisely to strengthen the production of defense capacities.
“At the same time, our efforts truly must be transatlantic. With joint effort, Europe and North America can produce more, be more inventive, and preserve their technological supremacy”, the ex-Defense Minister added.
U.S. Ambassador Aggeler said peace was not guaranteed without costs.
In that regard, she pointed out that if every NATO member strengthened its defense capacities, i.e. allocated a bigger budget for security, NATO, too, would surely be stronger. German Ambassador Drexler pointed to the need for unity and joint activities. In that context, she underlined the importance of reforms and enlargement.
