President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said on Monday that, speaking as a professor, early parliamentary elections wouldn’t be needed if MPs representing Health Minister Arben Taravari’s Alliance for Albanians wing left the ruling coalition. According to her, such an election process is needed in conditions when institutions are paralyzed, cannot function or when the ruling majority is on the verge of 61 MP seats.
“Yes, there are problems. However, institutions deal with them. There will be local elections, which reflect the mood of citizens, in the regular term. Sometimes, they are a litmus test with regards to the government’s success, but, absolutely, there is no need for parliamentary elections”, the President pointed out.
As she also underlined, those now calling for early elections are the same people that opposed such a process the most when there was a genuine need for that.
