At her meeting with EC President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova stated that the EU should find a creative solution to unblock the Macedonian integration process, as well as that accession of Western Balkan countries was not only a matter of enlargement, but also one that affected Europe’s security and stability.
She also expressed readiness for Macedonian-Bulgarian talks after the local elections.
The initiative to reform the EU’s decision-making, which would cover also matters related to enlargement, that is, introducing a qualified majority vote, would be a brave decision leading to a step forward from an integration standpoint, Siljanovska Davkova noted as well.
Also, according to her Cabinet’s press-release, she warned of the danger when it came to repeating the precedent in terms of the Macedonian integration path’s bilateralisation beyond the Copenhagen criteria not only in the region, but also beyond.
