New President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova’s Cabinet has responded to the reactions to her non-use of the constitutional name during the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday.
As it was pointed out on Monday, the new President will adhere to the official use of the constitutional name, but she has a right, in public appearances, to use the name “Macedonia”, as an act of personal right to self-determination and self-identification, respecting fundamental human rights and freedoms and according to European values and principles.
The Cabinet said the solemn oath had been signed by using the constitutional name. Over the past five years, it was stressed, the country’s institutions have almost fully fulfilled the Prespa Agreement obligations.
