Skopje Zoo Head Popov Denies Employee Tina Mickovska’s Claims

The Skopje Zoo’s Acting Director, Zoran Popov, has denied claims by employee Tina Mickovska’s that the Food and Veterinary Agency had, according to the law and protocol, notified the Zoo what would happen regarding the bird flu situation, but the majority of employees hadn’t been briefed.

According to him, Mickovska’s intention is to disinform the public, disturb citizens, and create a sense of fear and panic.

“That statement is fully false, which represents a crime. Namely, the Agency sent no order and notification to the Zoo on 18 and 19 October,” Popov says, adding that, on the contrary, the Agency, without an order, without a notification, without the presence of an authorised person, forcibly entered and massacred the birds which didn’t have bird flu.
