Spain to Provide One Million Euros for Preservation of Ohrid Lake

The Spanish government will provide a grant of around one million euros for consulting and engineering services over the water management and the waste water treatment in the Ohrid Lake.

This was agreed at a meeting between First Deputy PM and Environment Minister Izet Mexhiti and Spanish Ambassador to North Macedonia Rafael Soriano Ortiz. At the meeting, Mexhiti thanked Ortiz for the Spanish grant, and informed him about the governmental priorities for preservation of the environment.

The interlocutors also reflected over the good bilateral relations over the past 30 years between North Macedonia and Spain, emphasizing the cooperation over the integration of North Macedonia in the EU.
