Speaker Gashi Describes Claims about Misuse of Official Vehicles as Unfounded

In an interview with Fokus, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi says that the whole situation with his use of an official vehicle to go to a wedding in Kosovo is not as much a result a deliberate attempt to smear him or elementary ignorance of matters that are so simple as much as it is a result of unprecedented resistance to accept a different profile of Speaker of the legislative house.

“Unfounded claims have emerged that I misuse official vehicles even though I am obliged by law to have an around-the-clock security detail both when I engage in official duties and when I travel privately. When these claims are seen in an isolated manner, they can seemingly look like tendencies to portray incidents.

However, I believe they are symptoms of a deeper issue that has been present for years.

All of this gives me the right to understand that this situation is not a result of a deliberate attempt to tarnish or elementary ignorance of things about matters so simple as much as it is a result of an unprecedented resistance to accept a different profile of Parliament Speaker, who, after 22 years, promotes values different than those before,” he points out.
