On Friday, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met EU Ambassador David Geer and EU Delegation representatives.
According to Parliament’s press-release, the Ambassador said he expected that the new composition of the legislative house would work committedly on achieving the country’s strategic goal of EU membership.
The Speaker expressed gratitude for the EU institutions’ continued support for the enlargement process regarding North Macedonia, adding that he was satisfied that new methodology on enlargement provided for a strengthened role of parliaments in the negotiations process. In that regard, he voiced conviction that the new composition of Parliament would get fully invested in the process.
Views were exchanged also on the procedures to adopt laws in Parliament, on strengthening the legislative house’s oversight role regarding the Government, on further alignment with the EU acquis, on the issue of election of the new government in North Macedonia, and on the European Parliament elections.
