Judges of the Supreme Court have rejected the initiative for them to decide whether the amnesty over the case concerning the 27 April 2017 storming of Parliament should be applied to the 27 April Organisers case.
At Monday’s session, it was concluded that the initiative, submitted by Antonio Apostolski, the lawyer of former secret police chief Vladimir Atanasovski, was not accepted.
The Court explained it couldn’t interpret whether the amnesty could cover other persons because the law specified who was freed from blame. As it added, there haven’t been different court practices over the implementation of the amnesty law either.
Apostolski said the Criminal Court would now need to decide on the matter. This is the second trial over the 27 April Organisers case.
The Court of Appeals ordered a retrial, with a request for the Criminal Court to voice a stand on the amnesty matter. With the previous verdict, the defendants were given prison sentences.
