Taravari doesn’t Believe Early Preliminary Elections should Be Held

On an episode of Kanal 5 CEO Ivan Mircevski’s podcast, Health Minister Arben Taravari, who heads one of the Alliance for Albanians’ wings, has stated that regardless of the outcome of the meeting he will have with PM Hristijan Mickoski after which it will be known whether he will continue to be part of the cabinet, early parliamentary elections shouldn’t be held simultaneously with the local polls.

“Even in the event of us potentially leaving the ruling structure, that doesn’t mean that our Parliamentary Group will transfer to the Ali Ahmeti-headed European Front”, Taravari points out.

Nonetheless, he’s left the door open for collaboration in the local elections with Ahmeti’s party, DUI, but also with VLEN, in some municipalities even though the latter’s co-leaders have been adamantly against that.

“I’ve said we can have collaboration for the second round. For the first round, it depends on the circumstances”, Taravari points out.

Regarding DUI’s stand that early parliamentary elections are needed, VLEN has responded by saying that it’s like Ali Ahmeti’s party wants for VMRO-DPMNE to win more than 60 MP seats.

“DUI is demanding early parliamentary elections in order for there to be a Przino format of government where the caretaker Interior Minister will be its political controller, SDSM. Ahmeti sees in that 100-day period a chance to destroy evidence of corruption by his former officials”, it points out.
