Trade Unions organise Rallies on International Labour Day

 

Several trade union organisations in Macedonia staged rallies in front of the government on Wednesday, thus observing the International Labour Day (1 May). The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) started their rally from in front of the Parliament of Macedonia. The Confederation of Trade Unions of Macedonia also held a separate rally on the streets of Skopje, while a third rally was organised by the Independent Union of Journalists and Media Workers, the Trade Union of the Macedonian Diplomatic Service, the Independent Academic Union and the Trade Union of Culture. The three groups met in front of the Government of Macedonia, where they presented their demands, including employment contracts to be signed on a permanent base, Saturday and Sunday to be rest days, 12 months maternity leave for one child, increase of the minimum wage to 13.600 denars, etc.
