On Friday, the Constitutional Court said US Ambassador Angela Aggeler had paid a visit to the institution the previous day.
First, she had a tete-a-tete with President Darko Kostadinovski, which was followed by a working meeting with Judges Kadriu, Dabovic, Ajdari, Kacarska, Vasic Bozadzieva, and Palovska-Daneva. Court President Kostadinovski briefed Ambassador Aggeler on the priorities of his term, as well as on the internal and external challenges the Court had faced in its work over the past period.
“At this capacity, through the activities being taken for greater resolve and uncompromising attitude in its action, complemented with transparency and court activism, the Court does strengthened work on restoring confidence in the rule of law and increasing citizen confidence in the Court. I will especially highlight the progress in the field of transparency and point to, as an example, the fact that we’re getting ready for the preparatory session over the Languages Use Law, which represents an exceptionally sensitive case, to be recorded and broadcast live”, Kostadinovski stated.
Ambassador Aggeler expressed US support to restore confidence in the legal state through transparent actions and decision-making exclusively according to the Constitution and laws. Also, she urged Judges to resist any influence and pressure in their actions.
