At Thursday’s debate in the frames of the Political System Committee, VMRO-DPMNE urged resignations and disbandment of the Council of Public Prosecutors.
In front of the body’s President, Dusica Dimitrieska, they described the Council as an unnecessary part of the judiciary.
Ruling majority MPs accused the Council of being silent about mistakes by its members, as in the case with Ixhet Memeti, who resigned after he’d entered a plea deal in the case concerning ex-Novo Selo Mayor Boro Stojcev.
On the other hand, Dimitrieska said the Council didn’t have the competence to oversee the work of prosecutors. In that regard, she called for legal changes to be made.
