On Monday, one person lost his life in the Kokosinje village wildfire. As Crisis Management Centre Stojance head Angelov said, the wildfire caught his house.
“It’s about an elderly person that most likely suffocated in the smoke. His wife has successfully been evacuated,” he added.
There are 30 active wildfires, Sakam Da Kazam said in a report at around 8 pm. Because of the wind, there are problems to deal with the wildfires in 12 villages in the Kumanovo region, Staro Nagoricane, Sveti Nikole, Stip, and Probistip.
“According to preliminary information, multiple houses have burned down. Some of them were old and abandoned, but others were new. Villagers that lived in the new ones have been successfully evacuated,” Angelov added.
The Crisis Management Centre head urged citizens to be careful because wind problems and the hot weather are expected to continue in the coming days too.
