Margarita Caca-Nikolovska, former Judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, who’s part of the working group for the Judicial Council, says there must be a solution to the situation regarding the current legislation whose inconsistency was used during the dismissal of Vesna Daneva as head of the body.
“It is not an old law. It’s a relatively new one. Unfortunately, part of those recommendations proposed by us during the preparation of that law weren’t integrated. You saw the consequences in terms of the procedure over the illegal dismissal. We will try to present that now more strongly, to explain it, and to integrate it into a law,” she points out.
Another member of the group, university professor Ana Pavlovska Daneva, believes that the manner of election of Council members from the ranks of both judges and so-called prominent attorneys should be specified, as should their liability.
